The audiobook industry has grown massively in popularity over the past couple of decades and studies have shown that listening to stories can assist in classroom learning.

Research has shown, for instance, that education programs that included the use of audiobooks improved children’s reading proficiency more than programs that did not use them. Listening to audio while reading a text can be especially effective: one study concluded that 76% of students reported improved reading comprehension and motivation. The study also revealed significant gains in self-confidence and greater learning independence.

Research has shown that "pictures have a direct route to long-term memory, each image storing its own information as a coherent ‘chunk’ or concept.”

Another study suggested that up to 83% of human learning occurs visually. The study also indicated that information which is communicated visually is retained up to six times greater than information which is communicated by spoken word alone.
